Laos has been one of our final destinations, and it’s definitely competing for the top spot of our favourite country on this whole trip. Everyday is Laos has been wonderful - great people, excellent food, amazing scenery, fantastic experiences, very laid back atmosphere, we want to come back to live here.
Some highlights include:
- floating down the river on giant inner-tubes, in Vang Vieng - trekking to remote hill-tribe villages at the top of the mountains - kayaking through rapids (and falling into them) - riding elephants in the jungle - lazing on the river banks of Muong Ngoi
And since this is our last week in Asia we may as well list the things we’ve eaten over the last 8 weeks:
- snake (the chef chopped off its head in front of us and made us drink its blood) - squirrel - deer - porcupine - wild boar - duck feet (we ate this one unknowingly in the dark!) - frogs legs - egg-duck (this is a baby duck which is nearly ready to hatch, but steamed and eaten with a spoon instead)
All were tasty, we’d eat them all again, except maybe the poor baby duck…
